Nominator's project description

Professor Friedman is an internationally recognized researcher in cellular decision-making and information processing. He has made outstanding and highly influential contributions in the area of machine learning, using powerful probabilistic graphical models. Professor Friedman will combine his expertise in high-throughput functional screening in yeast and computational biology with Professor Rajewsky’s competence in RNA biology to identify new sequence elements in cellular messenger RNA molecules which confer subcellular localization instructions.
